7 Things I Forgot To Take To Burning Man
I just completed my first trip to Burning Man and learned a lot camping by myself. Here's a few things I wish I would have had that I didn't see on many shopping lists.
- Spray bottle with water and tea tree oil - feels great and is probably the best way to spray shower
- Hair detangler - your hair is going to get dry and tangled up here, a good leave-in conditioner is your only hope
- Double the socks I thought I needed - you're going to wreck socks and shoes here, bring more than you think you'll need
- Slippers - for late-night potty runs
- CamelBak - the only way to stay hydrated out there, water bottles are too bothersome to be bothered with
- Spray sunscreen - bring two canisters, it's faster and less messy than regular sunscreen
- Intensive moisturizing lotions and potions - your entire body is going to dry out like a raisin, fight it!
Here's a few things I did remember to bring that were awesomely helpful
- Parasols - you can't take them to the burns but they rock during the day
- Gummy bears - you can't bring any candy that melts, I loved gummy bears
- Latern - you're going to spend a lot of time sitting around a night, an LED latern kicks butt when you're sitting around
- Bucket with lid - guys have pee bottles...girls gotta...you'll figure this one out for yourself
- Silver duct tape - doubles as repair tape, decoration, or protection from sharp edges
- Sarongs - work as shawls, towels, dresses, skirts, shade tents and more, bring lots!
- Bike shorts - if your thighs rub together in the heat, bike shorts under everything will save your skin
- Lemon juice - wash your feet with it to neutralize the alkali dust, it works just like vinegar but smells better
- Gel manicure - get a mani/pedi before and after you go, a gel manicure looks awesome and might even survive all week
